Snow White is a princess living with her wicked stepmother, the Queen. Because of Snow White's beauty, the jealous Queen forces her to work as a maid. The Queen asked her Magic Mirror daily "Who is the fairest one of all?" In repsonse, the Mirror always said she was.
One day, the Magic Mirror says that Snow White is fairest, and in a fit of jealousy, the Queen orders a huntsman to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, and to bring back her heart as proof that he completed this task. The huntsman, unable to harm Snow White, tells her to run away and never come back. He brings a pig's heart back to the Queen, and she believes he has completed his task.
Snow White, running through the woods, lost and frightend, is befriended by many woodland creatures. They lead her to a small cottage, which Snow White believes belongs to seven very untidy children. She cleans the cottage up, and falls asleep across three of the beds.
When the owners, who are in fact, seven adult dwarfs (Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey), find her there, they are alarmed. However, when they found out that she can cook and will keep house for them, they welcome her to stay.
Eventually, the Queen asks the Magic Mirror who is the fairest of them all. When it responds Snow White, she is shocked and angry that Snow White is still alive. She disguises herself as an old hag, and tricks Snow White into biting into an apple that she had poisoned. The apple sends her into a deep sleep. The woodland animals had recognized the Queen and alerted the dwarfs to her presence. They chase the Queen up a cliff which is struck by lightning and she falls to her death.
When the dwarfs return to the cottage, they find Snow White and believe that she is dead. They place her in a glass coffin in a clearing in the woods, and with the woodland animals, watch over her body throughout the seasons.
A prince, who had fallen in love with Snow White previously, learns of her, and visits her coffin. He is captivated by her beauty and kisses her, which breaks the spell and awakens her. The dwarfs and animals celebrate as Snow White rides off with her Prince Charming.
